Craig (Ice Cube) je obyčejný mladík, kterého propustili ve čtvrtek z práce, protože kradl krabice ze skladu. V pátek ráno se proboudí, ale to ještě neví, že ho bude čekat jeden z nejpodivnějších dnů jeho života. Se svým trhlým kamarádem a drogovým dealerem Smokeyem (Chris Tucker) se flákají na verandě Craigova domu místo toho, aby Craig hledal práci, jak mu otec nařídil. Oba posedávají a kouří marihuanu, když v tom přijede Smokeyův dodavatel zboží Velký Červ a chce po něm peníze za prodané zboží, ale Smokey mu řekne, že už to z Craigem všechno vykouřili. Velký Červ se naštve a vyhrožuje, že jestli ty peníze nebudou mít do deseti hodin, pak je oba zabije. A tak začíná honba za penězi pro záchranu života. Dokáží Craig a Smokey sehnat peníze a uniknout smrti před Velkým Červem?
