Blod orkidén er en sjælden blomst, der kan sikre evigt liv og rigdom til den medicinalvirksomhed, der finder den. En forskergruppe under ledelse af en hårdtslående lejesoldat bliver sendt dybt ind i Borneos jungle for at finde den sagnomspundne orkide. Ekspeditionen må kæmpe sig vej gennem brusende floder og slås mod giftige insekter, bidske krokodiller og blodtørstige hovedjægere – og så ved de endda ikke, at de bliver forfulgt af en endnu større fare – en flok giftige anakondaer, som er livsfarlige, 15 meter lange kødædende slanger, som vil gøre alt for at beskytte deres territorium, hvor blod orkidén vokser.
