Inspired by a legend of Provencal folklore, the film tells the story of the Tarasque and Saint Martha. The Tarasque, a gigantic dragon, had settled in a pond near the small town of Tarascon, killed everything that lived, devoured animals and people, burned the crops. People dreaded and hated her, but no one dared to confront him. Martha, a young girl, managed to dominate and tame the dragon, which became quite docile and harmless.
