Vrátil jsem se, abych pomohl dobrým lidem kráčet se vztyčenou hlavou, pronesl otec Giuseppe Puglisi, dosazený v roce 1990 palermským arcibiskupem do farnosti v rodném Brancacciu, na předměstí sicilské metropole, a zastřelený mafií v den svých narozenin o tři roky později tamtéž. Ve svém novém filmu se režisér Roberto Faenza obrací k pohnuté době, kdy mafie stupňovala agresi vůči italskému státu a prostřednictvím bombových útoků v Římě, Miláně či ve Florencii dokazovala svůj vliv i mimo rodnou Sicílii. Po více než deseti letech od násilné smrti kněze se Faenza vrací ke tři roky trvající Puglisiho snaze zabránit dětem ulice v postupném přerodu ve členy zločinecké organizace. Režisér a spoluautor scénáře se vyhýbá nabízející se laciné glorifikaci hrdiny a podává o jeho charakteru a skutcích až překvapivě lakonické svědectví. Nenápadnou naléhavost snímku podtrhuje vynikající herecký výkon Luky Zingarettiho v hlavní roli.
