I maj 2009 lancerede besætningen på rumfærgen Atlantis en mission for at lave vitale reparationer og opgraderinger på Hubble rum teleskopet, verdens første rumbaserede optiske teleskop. Et IMAX kamera fangede de fantastisk optagelser af de fem indviklede og krævede rumvandringer, samt nærbilleder af bestræbelserne på at fange det kredsende teleskop med rumfærgens mekaniske arm, og et uventet problem der kunne sabotere hele missionen. Dette betagende materiale med billeder taget under de 20 år Hubble har været vejrs. Gennem avanceret computer visualisering, bliver dens detaljerede data en serie af videnskabeligt realistiske flyvninger, der udfolder sig på skærmen som en guidet tur af universet, gennem tid og rum.
