Eine Sonnenfinsternis steht an und auch an der Schule der jungen Verónica will man sich dieses seltene Naturphänomen nicht entgehen lassen. Doch Verónica und zwei ihrer Freundinnen haben ganz andere Pläne geschmiedet: Während der Rest der Schule gebannt in den Himmel starrt, machen sie sich mit einem Ouija-Brett davon. Unbeobachtet starten sie eine Séance, bei der die Mädchen den Geist von Verónicas verstorbenen Vater heraufbeschwören wollen. Doch die Sitzung hat verheerende Folgen, denn Verónica verfällt in eine tiefe Trance und verliert anschließend auch noch das Bewusstsein. Als sie dann später aufwacht, scheint alles wieder beim Alten zu sein. Der Scheint trügt jedoch und immer öfter kommt es zu mysteriösen Ereignissen, die das Leben des Mädchens zutiefst erschüttern...
