Épris de l'actrice Dorothy Brock, Abner Dillon finance une revue dont la jeune femme doit être la vedette mais celle-ci aime en réalité son ancien partenaire Pat Denning. Julian Marsh est chargé de la mise au point de la revue. Les répétitions se poursuivent, mais Dorothy, voyant Pat avec la jeune Peggy Sawyer, croit qu'il la trompe. La veille de la première, elle insulte Dillon qui du coup refuse de continuer à financer le spectacle à moins que Dorothy n'en soit renvoyée. Dillon consent par la suite à se contenter des excuses de Dorothy. Cette dernière se brise une cheville. Qui va donc pouvoir la remplacer ? Ann qui a remplacé Dorothy auprès de Dillon est candidate, mais Marsh la juge incapable d'assurer le spectacle. Il choisit Peggy. Le jeune Billy Lawler assure Peggy de tout son amour. Peggy qui avait le trac est rassurée par cet aveu et le spectacle est un triomphe.
