De licht ontvlambare plattelandsjongen Bud Davis reist naar de stad Pasadena om er zijn oom te bezoeken. Hij bezoekt er regelmatig de bar Gilley's en ontmoet er de jonge cowgirl Sissy. De tortelduifjes trouwen snel en vanaf dan gaan ze elk weekend samen naar Gilley's, waar Bud de show steelt op de mechanische stier.
